Debating the importance of equality versus freedom is a complex discourse that has engaged philosophers, policymakers, and societies for centuries. While equality aims to ensure fairness and justice for all members of a community, freedom emphasizes individual autonomy and liberty. Both concepts are fundamental pillars of a democratic society, with each playing a critical role in shaping social, political, and economic systems. The balance between equality and freedom often requires nuanced consideration, as societies strive to maximize both principles while addressing the diverse needs and aspirations of their citizens.

When inequality keeps increasing there will be no more freedom at the end

Equality of what or in other words how are you defining equality? I think every adult should be free so that would be equality of freedom? Equality of income no, equality of marks at school no but if you own a house and I owned a house should we no have the same property rights? Equality of property rights I say yes.

This has everything to do with Trade and Prosperity Mr. Hardgrave.
I vote Freedom. Freedom is the only concept that makes us masters of our own destiny. Equality can only come from an "ideal" Socialist/Communist system that has always failed and will fail. Why? Because there never will be an equality of: Effort, knowledge, motivation and the free thought of good ideas and the ability to act on them. Those inequalities will always reward or advance some and leave others behind.

Thanks Anthony. I'm going to move this one to our forum for suggesting new sections of the Everyday Economics course, as its a bit outside the scope of the "Trade and Prosperity" section.
