problem with video
Hi, in the video "Econ Duel: Is Education Signaling or Skill Building?" the English subtitles or closed caption won't work - they only come in a different alphabet I don't recognize. Many thanks,

Please Use a Drupal Module To Filter Comments
There are several anti-spam modules available for your CMS that will block/filter spam comments. Just google Drupal spam prevention. I'm sending High School students to your site and they are getting ads for escort services in the comments.
1 voteHello,
Thanks for your feedback here. We do have some spam filters setup but clearly they’re not working! We’re digging into this.Roman

Money, investment, savings: the oil for economic wheels
Direct trade is good for small, introductory examples, but real economies run on more finely grained money. Trace how money is earned, spent, saved, invested, spent some more, and grows in the process.
Outstanding lectures so far, thank you. Please continue.
The basics of Western economics are not taught, at least not often, to students in (still Communist) China and India, and immigrants are sometimes baffled by market manipulations, loans, leases, and so forth. Even technical young people, in computer-related industries and IT, often lack the backgrounds in basic Econ to, e.g., understand their mortgages, margin accounts at brokerages, and…

I am able to see the English subtitles. Click the CC icon on the YouTube player. If that doesn’t work, email us at [email protected] with the link.
We are looking for help translating all of our videos – click the translate button below our videos to create new subtitles.
While economics is universal, English is not! We’d love to teach more folks.

I am really impressed with the lectures. Like Kahn Academy they are the best I have found in explaining complex ideas clearly and simply.

Misleading wording in one quiz question
Hi, I just took the quiz following the video "A price is a signal wrapped up in an incentive." The last phrase in the answer to question 6 describes the equilibrium price as "desired by no one." What is meant here is "the equilibrium price is not the desire of any one person," but the way it's written can just as easily be interpreted as "the equilibrium price is quite disliked by everyone." It's ambiguous that way. One way to clear up the ambiguity is just to change it to "…desired by no one person." Indeed, that wording appears in…

Improving long term learning and comprehension of material
The videos and questions are engaging, but without frequent and spaced reinforcement of the concepts and terminology, the ideas will not embed in learners long term memory. students take a multiple choice question and pass but do they really understand the concepts. This is the biggest failure of MOOCs. I recommend including on the website some space repetitive questioning of the material to help push the ideas from short term memory to long term memory. There is a lot to earn from language learning and flashcard websites and apps like Anki, Duolingo and Memrise. You can even develop on Memrise…
1 voteThank you Bryon! No surprise that such a smart comment comes from a fellow Hokie!
I agree that there is much to be done to provide practice materials to reinforce concepts. That’s definitely on our radar to improve.
I’ll check out those apps you mentioned. I appreciate the feedback – feel free to email me directly at roman at mruniversity dot com.

Love this course! When will section on insurance and moral hazard be complete?
Expand discussion of why health care is burdened with market failures (adverse selection, information asymmetry, moral hazard) and whether introducing high deductible insurance plans will encourage price transparency, thus bringing health costs back to earth.

1 voteHi Bill,
Thanks for the comment – getting the International Finance exam up is on our list. We’re a bit behind I know. We are a very small team.I’m always curious to learn more about what folks are doing with our materials – would you mind sharing with me what you do with our certificate?
I’ll post a note here when the exam is up. Should be within the next few months.
Thanks.

Do you take part in Hi-Tech exhibitions to promote your site?
Can such a branding be suitable for that: https://www.behance.net/gallery/32744163/Logo-and-branding-for-MR-University ?

Can you make a program for volunteers to translate your videos?
Translation into different languages will be nice.
1 voteWe have a way to do this already! If you go to mruniversity.com and look at any video page, you should see a “translate” button under the video.
Clicking on it will take you to a tool that allows you to add subtitles. We greatly appreciate any additions we get!
For example, here’s the link for the first video in our Micro course. http://www.amara.org/en/videos/AfeywxXg5Wel/info/introduction-to-economics/
