How Do You Stay Motivated When Working on Long Coding Projects?
Hey everyone,
I'm currently knee-deep in a personal project—building a full-stack web app—and I’ve hit that inevitable point where motivation starts to dip. I was super excited in the beginning (new tech stack, cool features, lots of momentum), but now I’m juggling debugging, feature creep, and real-life distractions… and progress feels slooooow.
I know this is part of the process, but I’m curious—how do you all stay focused and motivated when working on long-term coding projects, especially personal or side ones?
A few specific things I’m wondering:
Do you set mini-milestones or reward yourself?
How do you deal with burnout or decision fatigue when you’re the only one working on the project?
Any tools or habits that help keep things organized and less overwhelming?
Would love to hear any personal tips, routines, or even struggles. Just trying to find ways to keep moving forward without fizzling out!
Thanks in advance
